
Pierluigi Petrini was born in Milan on June 8, 1952. His academic career spans a high school diploma in the classics from the Sant’Ambrogio high school in Milan, followed by a degree in medicine and surgery from the Università degli Studi in Milano with full marks and the highest honors. He continued his academic career with a specialized degree in Anesthesia and Surgery and a specialized degree in Respiratory Physiopathology and Physiokinesis Therapy with full marks and the highest honors.
Beginning in 1980, Dr. Petrini worked at the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation at the Cà Granda-Policlinico Hospital in Milan, and from 1985 at the Anesthesia and Reanimation Service of the Civile di Castelsangiovanni Hospital (PC). He is the author of numerous scientific publications, and achieved the status of Attending Physician in 1991.
Since 1992 Pierluigi Petrini has taken a leave of absence by parliamentary mandate. In that year the political dimension took center stage in his life. In the 11th legislature he was Vicarious Vice President of the parliamentary group of the Northern League in the Chamber of Deputies and member of the 12th Social Affairs Permanent Commission.
In the 12th legislature he was President of the Parliamentary Group of the Northern League of the Chamber of Deputies. In July 1995 the Honorable Petrini resigned from office, denouncing the extreme drift of the Party. In that period he was a member of the 12th Social Affairs Permanent Commission, member of the Regulatory Committee and member of the special Commission for the reorganization of the broadcasting system.
In the 13th legislature, elected to the lists of Italian Renewal, he was Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies. In addition, at the time, he served as President of the Committee for personnel affairs and member of the 2nd Permanent Justice Commission.
This also indicates the role performed by the Hon. Petrini as a member of the special commission for the review of draft legislation measures for the prevention and suppression of corruption. Pierluigi Petrini has also been President of bilateral commissions with the Romanian Parliament and the Russian Duma.
In the 14th legislature, elected to the Senate in the Olive Tree list, he was court secretary of the Margherita DL group, as well as member and leader of the Margherita DL in the 1st Constitutional Affairs Permanent Commission, of the Presidency of the Council and Interior. In addition, he was a part of the extraordinary Commission for the protection and promotion of human rights, member of the enquiry Commission on Telekom Serbia and member of the enquiry Commission on accidents in the workplace.
